Earth's rotation

The Earth rotates on its axis, an imaginary line running from the North Pole to the South Pole.

It takes 24 hours to complete one rotation.

This rotation is why we have day and night. The Sun shines on one half of the Earth. It is day on the half of the Earth that faces the Sun. It is night on the half of the Earth that faces away from the Sun.
