All plants have leaves, stems and roots.
Leaves grow from the stems or branches. A leaf uses sunlight to help make its own food.
Deciduous trees lose all their leaves in the fall. Evergreen trees produce new leaves all year.

Stems carry water and minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant. They also support the plant (like our skeleton supports our body).
Roots are the part of the plant that is underground. They have two functions: absorb water and minerals that the plant needs to grow, and fix the plant into the ground.
Do you know about quinine? It's a medicine made from a plant that cures a disease called malaria. Check out The story of quinine.
